The Land Before Skyscrapers

Long before the concrete jungle defined our horizon, these trails were carved by movement, season, and survival. Have you ever wondered what secrets lie beneath the soil of our modern metropolis?

A Deep-Time Odyssey

We're not just walking; we're time-travelling. Our expeditions trace the literal footsteps of those who shaped this region 15,000 years ago.

13,000 BCE: The Glacial Reshape

The retreating Wisconsinal ice sheet leaves behind the jagged cliffs and valleys we hike today. Huge erratics—boulders the size of houses—were dropped here as the ice melted.

8,000 BCE: Early Foragers

Traces of fire pits and flint tools mark high ridges. These sites, which we pass on our 'High Ground' tours, were once lookout points for megafauna hunters.

1,000 CE: Pre-Colonial Settlements

Established agricultural communities thrive near the river valleys. We visit the remains of shell middens—ancient compost heaps that tell us exactly what these people ate for dinner 1,000 years ago.

Scientific Integrity

Our guides include amateur archaeologists who ensure every fact shared is backed by peer-reviewed findings.

Leave No Trace

Artifacts stay in the ground. We teach the 'Look, don't lift' protocol to protect these non-renewable resources.

Respectful Routes

We work with local indigenous councils to ensure our presence on sacred lands is respectful and approved.

Artifact Preservation

If we find something new, we report it. Since we started, our groups have helped identify 12 new historical sites.

"Our perspective shifted. We didn't just see a park; we saw a civilization."
